Carole Silva is a language arts professor at Marygrove College, teaching online courses in reading and writing to benefit master-candidate students. Dr. Silva has earned her expertise in language and reading instruction during her more than 31 years as an educator. She is an experienced elementary school teacher and adjunct professor who became involved in Web-based education when courses began migrating online while working at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Silva credits her many years of professional success to education, innovation, compassion and consistency.
Dr. Silva attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a master's degree in education before going on to earn a doctorate in education from the same prestigious institution. In addition, she holds teaching certifications for kindergarten through 12th grade in the states of California and New Mexico. Dr. Silva has enjoyed numerous highlights throughout her career, including receiving the Margaret Lynch Scolarship Award to pursue post-baccalaureate study in the area of reading, being named a personal ambassador for the International Society of Poets and winning an award for her poetry.
